Yes, US Healthcare can be a puzzle. Or worse, a labyrinth, a Gordian knot. First, I would probably spend 5-10 hours skimming The Health Care Handbook 3rd edition, 2023 Askins, Moore. Google things of interest.

    This is so useful, thank you so much! Out of interest, how would you personally go about compiling the same ‘starter pack’ of good information for another industry? I’ve read your blog on research skills when jumping on a project, but any tips for a more macro search like this? Cheers

      Dan – that’s a great question. For US Healthcare, was 7 years as a health system consultant, and taught 1 semester. For a new industry -straight off the bench. My thought process would likely look like: 1) S&P industry survey (if you have access) 2) publicly traded companies’ investor relation presentations 3) top 10 consulting firm white papers on the topic 4) then it starts getting a bit wild (linkedin, quora, industry lobby organizations etc). . . hope this helps.
