STP (Segmentation, Targeting, Positioning)
This is Marketing 101 for many reasons:
- There is no such thing as an average customer
- Groups of customers are not just defined by where they live or how old they are
- In a free market, customers will always have some choice, so “how is this offer better or different?”
This applies to recruiting
This makes sense. We are in the middle of the “Great Recession” where unemployment rates are at the lowest in many decades and there are still 10 million + open positions in the United States. As my mom asked me recently, “If no one is working, what are they doing?” Good question mom.
